Meet Da’Shawn

This month, we’re honored to feature Da’Shawn Wilson as our member spotlight. A devoted mother of three, a driven investor, and an embodiment of resilience, Da’Shawn’s journey is one of unwavering determination and inspiring achievements.

Her story serves as a powerful reminder that with perseverance, passion, and a willingness to embrace challenges, we can create a life filled with purpose and fulfillment.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your journey. What are you passionate about, and how did you get to where you are today?

My name is Da’Shawn Wilson, I’m 36 years old and I’m a passionate mother of three—14-year-old twins, a boy and a girl, and a 10-year-old son. Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, my journey has been deeply shaped by my role as a mother. Raising my children has been both my greatest joy and biggest motivation, pushing me to grow personally and professionally. Just to give a little clarity my twins are my miracle babies I had them at 26 weeks and they were 1lb 3oz and 1lb 4oz. They were both in the NICU for a quite some time but my son was impacted the most. He was having trouble breathing and had to get a tracheostomy along with a G tube for feeding which cause him to stay in the hospital until he was almost one years old.

Once he came home I had 24 hour nursing care with nurses in and out of my home non stop. I dealt with so much at the age of 21 ensuring that my children beat the odds. To see my son be able to do everything they said he couldn’t do walk, talk, eat, and live a normal life is a blessing and I am forever grateful.

Throughout the years, my experiences have taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of nurturing both my family and myself. I’m passionate about creating a balanced and fulfilling life for my family, while also pursuing my own ambitions.

Can you share some insights into your business/career? What inspired you to pursue this path?

Over the years, I’ve ventured into several businesses, but my true passion lies in real estate investing and development. Currently, I’m an investor not just in real estate, but across various sectors. What inspired me to pursue this path was my deep desire for freedom—both financially and personally. Through my experiences and life lessons, I realized that I don’t have to trade all my time for money.

I’m currently preparing for a major milestone—leaving my job of 8 years in a few months to fully commit to investing. It’s a leap of faith, and while the exact path is uncertain, I’m confident that following my dreams will lead to great things. I believe we only have one life to live, so it’s important to live it fully.

Some of my proudest accomplishments have been building a diverse investment portfolio and gaining the flexibility to live life on my own terms, while continuing to grow professionally.

Do you have a favorite quote, mantra, or lesson you’ve learned that you’d like to share with our community?

“There’s a loophole to everything” my meaning of this is: life is a loop that brings situations full circle, and with persistence or patience, you can find ways to navigate or “fix” whatever issue arises as there’s an answer to every single problem, I promise you.

What advice would you give to someone who’s just starting out on a similar journey?

My biggest piece of advice is that consistency is key—I know it sounds cliché, but it’s true. As long as you stay consistent, things will inevitably move forward. Another important lesson is to get comfortable with being uncomfortable, because that’s where real growth happens. Finally, don’t be afraid to fail—and fail fast. The lessons you gain from failure are invaluable, and while it might feel tough in the moment, everything will make sense in the end. Embrace the process, stay patient, and trust that it’s all part of the journey.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with the community?

Honestly, I don’t have it all figured out and none of us ever will. But that’s the beauty of it. Life is about relaxing, trusting the process, and enjoying the journey. We all want to reach that end goal, but the real magic happens in the journey itself. It’s where you grow and become the person you’re meant to be. So, just take it one step at a time, embrace the ups and downs, and know it’ll all come together in the end.
